★ Leader : HAN MINJOON (Head of ATI Bio Research Institute)
★ Schedule(Regular Meeting)
Every third and fourth Saturday of the month, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM (2 hours), followed by lunch.
- 8.15(Sat), 9.19(Sat), 10.24(Sat), 11.28(Sat) ~
★ Meeting Location(Regular Meeting)
112 Gyeotbeol-ro, Songdo International City, Incheon (Conference Room, 1st Floor, ATI Bio Research Institute)
1. What is the purpose of this Group?
“Advanced Regenerative Medicine Research Group”
- Our group aims to provide a platform for communication among Korean and international researchers in the field of life science, particularly those interested in cutting-edge regenerative medicine research using stem cells.
- Songdo is one of biggest Korea’s biotech hub, home to numerous biotech companies—including Samsung Biologics and Celltrion—as well as top-tier research institues (i.e. Gachon University, Inha University, and Yonsei University). Through this gathering, we aim to run a program where researchers—ranging from early-career scientists to senior executives—can study and collaborate on the development of next-generation therapeutics.
- Lastly, we also plan to introduce the foods traditionally eaten during Korean national holidays to the many foreign researchers studying/working in Korea, providing them with an opportunity to experience Korean culture as well.
2. Who is the group leader?
“I have been researching cell therapies using stem cells for a long time, and I am currently conducting research on automation for the production of cell and gene therapies (CGT)”
After completing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the Department of Biological Sciences at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST), I worked as a researcher at LG Chem.
In 2004, I moved to the United States to pursue Ph.D. and received Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University for research on “Regulation of mitochondrial protein synthesis through acetylation by NAD-dependent deacetylases (SIRTs).”
I then conducted research on stem cell-based therapeutics and stem cell metabolism at Harvard Medical School and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and in 2019, I began research on the production of cell therapies using stem cells in the industry (AstraZeneca/NovoGlia/CHA Biotech).
Recently, there has been explosive growth in AI combined automation technologies for the production and process development of these stem cells, and I recently joined ATI Bio Research Institute to lead the team in the development of automation system for cell production.
I am currently conducting research on improving the production and quality of cell therapies using these automation technologies, and I look forward to connecting with a wide range of professionals in this field through this event.
